Karen Dockrey
Karen Dockrey creates magical connections with children and teens. In her very first classroom, her supervisor said, "I'm moving you to this group so you can work your magic with those students too." Karen generates both competence and confidence in ways that put the child at the center of the success. She equips children to say and write their viewpoints in ways that skillfully communicate. She finds and feeds the strengths in each student so they can be effective world citizens.
Karen is a teacher of writing and English, a writer of children's books, and a managing editor. She makes her connections in person, online, and through books. She continues to learn. She delights discovering and in guiding others to discover. She loves children's writing, she encourages them to keep asking questions, and she uses science to help them discover.
Vocationally Karen has conceptualized curriculum and books, has trained writers to write them and editors to edit them, has edited them, written them, and taught with them. She regularly collaborates with others, convinced that none of us is as smart as all of us. Karen serves families through her work and through her church. She is the author of 30+ books that together have sold over a million copies.
Karen studied education in undergraduate school and during seminary. And today she understands more than she knew yesterday.
