Description
Jipsons’ Celebration of Mutuality is an outstanding work on the reality, rationality, and relationality of the mystery of the mutual love-relationship echoed in the sacrament of marriage and established in the family life, and enhanced daily through the journeying together of spouses to the flourishing of personality and sanctity—a replica and icon of the synodality in the Church. It is a laudable work of thorough research, sound theology, pastoral outlook, ecclesial rootedness, universal outreach, and lucid articulation of the celebration of the love-life saga.

Christian married life and family is a celebration of love, mutuality, and partnership in the Church and society. This work systematically studies these themes from the sacramental, canonical, and ethical perspectives of the Syro-Malabar ecclesial tradition. In this era of decline of the sacredness of marriage and family and increase of egoism, this work shows the true Christian spirit of marriage and family.

Jipson Joseph Edappulavan in this solid work proposes the Celebration of Mutuality in conjugal love as a fitting response to the present-day marital breakdown culture. This study is based on the Syro-Malabar liturgy of matrimony (with special reference to the cultural context of Kerala). I am happy to state that we see a resurgence of an Eastern approach to Catholic moral theology in this scientific work.
Prof. Dr. Dominic Vechoor
Covenantal relationship retold as mutuality is a paradigm, says Jipson, for marital relationship – an everyday liturgy to be realised and celebrated without break that becomes both a sign and sacrament of love. This work is a guide to the theology of marriage in our times where Celebration of Mutuality becomes (could be) the norm of good married life.
