The Synod on Synodality, called for by Pope Francis, has the potential to complement and complete the revolutionary event of Vatican II, which, even after more than half a century, has not yet been fully embraced by the common faithful; the power and organizational structure of the Church and the entrenched clericalism prevents the charism-thrust of the Council towards a radical renewal of the Church. To address this, Pope Francis brought back the ancient ecclesial organizational principle of ‘synodality.’ The suggestions, emerging from the present volume, are grounded in the rationale of the biblical and patristical sources, and in philosophical principles underpinning synodality.
