IS-THE-BIBLE-TRUE? UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLE TODAY

Is the Bible True offers a lively, down to earth look at the origins and nature of the Bible. Minister David Ord and biblical historian Robert Cotte address many of the questions raised when ordinary readers come face-to-face with dilemmas posed by modern biblical scholarship. Is the Bible True? succeeds in showing how a more sophisticated understanding of the scriptures can enhance rather than undermine faith. It is required reading for everyone who reads and studies the Bible.

Not Our Father’s Faith: How Doctrines Of Demons Have Invaded The Church

While the Church was fast asleep, strange intruders pried open the back door and mysteriously crept in. They violated God’s sacred Church with ideas foreign to His Word. Encouraging believers to turn their hearts and minds away from sound doctrine, they promoted emotional experiences and strange phenomena more akin to ancient paganism than Biblical Christianity. Through this straightforward and hard hitting book, internationally known evangelist Bill Rudge sounds the alarm. Well researched and balanced, Not Our Father’s Faith illustrates how the occult has subtly penetrated modern houses of worship.

On Christian Doctrine

The four books of St. Augustin On Christian Doctrine (De Doctrina Christiana, iv libri) are a compend of exegetical theology to guide the reader in the understanding and interpretation of the Sacred Scriptures, according to the analogy of faith. The first three books were written ad 397; the fourth was added 426. It is the first and best patristic work on biblical Hermeneutics, and continued for a thousand years, together with the Prefaces of Jerome, to be the chief exegetical guide. Although it is superseded as a scientific work by modern Hermeneutics and Critical Introductions to the Old and New Testaments, it is not surpassed for originality, depth and spiritual insight.

Orthodoxy

Orthodoxy (1908) is a book by G. K. Chesterton that has become a classic of Christian apologetics. [citation needed] Chesterton considered this book a companion to his other work, Heretics, writing it expressly in response to G. S. Street’s criticism of the earlier work, “that he was not going to bother about his theology until I had really stated mine”. In the book’s preface, Chesterton states the purpose is to “attempt an explanation, not of whether the Christian faith can be believed, but of how he personally has come to believe it.” In it, Chesterton presents an original view of Christian religion. He sees it as the answer to natural human needs, the “answer to a riddle” in his own words, and not simply as an arbitrary truth received from somewhere outside the boundaries of human experience.

The Dangers of the Health and Wealth Gospel

‘Doctor’ David Mende not only rightly diagnoses but also treats the disease of the Health and Wealth Gospel from his personal experience and thoroughly biblical and field research. In doing so he also cautions its hyper critics of ‘throwing the baby with the bathwater’. His antidote to ‘another gospel’ is the true Gospel, which he posits with clarity. A very balanced, unbiased therapy of an otherwise polarized subject this is – a tome to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the Body of Christ – a must-read for every Christian!

The Everlasting Man

C.S. Lewis was an atheist until he read Chesterton’s book, The Everlasting Man, but he wasn’t afterwards, prompting him to observe that a young man who is serious about his atheism cannot be too careful about what he reads.
